Job Purpose

This position is responsible for keeping records, receiving, and dispatching printing and other inventory items into and from the printing store/production floor; to perform messenger, dispatch, and stores tasks as required; and to deliver and collect printed products and printing materials across all campuses.

Responsibilities

The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Driving duties:
  • Deliver printed materials securely to campuses;
  • Receive and dispatch stock from the University printing stores;
  • Receive and deliver stock from printing stores to the printing depot;
  • Record and collect signed stock issue cards and receipts from the Print Depot Controller;
  • Load and offload of the delivery vehicle;
  • Planning and administration:
  • Liaise with the Dispatch Controller on daily deliveries or collections scheduled;
  • Prioritise urgent jobs as per communication with the Dispatch Controller;
  • Confirm availability with recipients prior to delivery;
  • Report to Dispatch Controller any delivery/collection challenges, such as waiting time and access to recipients;
  • Collect signed delivery notes/invoices from recipient after successful delivery/collection, and submit to the Dispatch Controller;
  • Vehicle maintenance:
  • Complete vehicle checklist before every journey;
  • Observe security protocols for vehicle and content safety;
  • Take vehicle for regular scheduled services to Facilities Management;
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness;
  • Keep track of vehicle license renewal requirements;
  • Report all vehicle incidents to the line manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12;
  • A total of one-year experience in:
  • Driving a company vehicle;
  • Messenger services;
  • Client relation management;
  • Production stores work;
  • Handling confidential documents;
  • Code EC1 drivers’ license;
  • Public driving permit (PDP).

  • Present information to individuals or groups; deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience;
  • Convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing, to ensure that they understand the information and the message;

Added Advantages And Preferences

  • A relevant National three-year Diploma;
  • A total of one-year exposure to a printing production environment.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
